It was another 2-3 ATS week so we are not doing all that well on the picks going 4-6 on the year. The good news is MU is looking very strong early on albeit against less than top notch competition. It's time to have our first winning week and there are some games I like here so let's take a shot.
While I am confident that MIZZOU (-6.5) lets some long-awaited revenge for a horrible loss to Purdue last year, this could be a bit tricky. Purdue has run the ball well this year and they have had some very bad breaks to be 0-2. I like MU and the points but this Purdue defense isn't good and MU's good defensive numbers have come against 1AA opposition and a Wyoming team without their best offensive player. This may seem too obvious but we are going OVER 65.5 and taking MIZZOU 42-31.
Sometimes the names on the jerseys influence the spread too much. BOISE STATE is quite a bit better than Oklahoma State I believe and I'll give the 3 points and take an outright upset.
I was ready to learn from my mistakes and take DUKE as a very strong play over Baylor but Daniel Jones is a huge difference maker on that team and he's out. I am much less excited about doing this but I will take the Blue Devils plus six points as I think they have some other strong players and Cutcliffe and scheme things together well when facing this type of adversity.
Tennessee is trying to build confidence and UTEP is really horrible. The weather has me a bit concerned here but I like to bet on teams to run it up that are trying to generate momentum. I'll take the Vols -30.5 here.
I may end up being on the wrong side of Alabama all year but Ole Miss couldn't stop a 1AA team on offense. Let's try to avoid going 0-3 on the Tide and take them -20 here to win big in Oxford.
That's all for this week. Good luck to your (non BoilerMaker) team!
