Ricardo Ratliffe
Letterman – 2011, 2012
The 6’8 forward came to MU via Central Florida CC, and was one of the most accomplished JUCO players of all time. One of just 13 players ever to be named First Team JUCO All American twice, Ratliffe scored over 1,600 points his first two years and was the #1 rated JUCO player in his class. His first season at MU he was twice named Conference Rookie of the Week en route to his Honorable Mention All Conference selection as well as being recognized as the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year. After an offseason injury to frontcourt mate Laurence Bowers, Ratliffe held down the blocks for a Tiger team that would go on to win 30 games and be ranked as high as #2 in the nation. In a win over #3 Baylor and their frontcourt of future NBA players, Ratliffe would score a career high 27 points. He destroyed all prior marks for shooting efficiency by posting a 69.3% shooting percentage on the year, setting not only the MU all time record but also leading the entire nation in that category. Additionally he would lead the Big 12 in offensive rebounding and player efficiency rating. He was named Second Team All Big 12 on the season, and for his two year career broke both the MU and the Big 12 career FG% marks at 63.5%. He scored a combined 2,500 points at the collegiate level, making him one of only 3 Tigers ever to reach that mark. Additionally he had 1,145 rebounds at the collegiate level, one of only 5 Tigers to grab more than 1,000 career rebounds. After his college career he was named the MVP of the East / West All Star game as well as led his team to the Portsmouth Invitational Championship, but went undrafted and elected to play S. Korea where he became a naturalized citizen and currently represents their national team.
