What does a cop do who walks the beat? He discourages crime by being there. Bad guys know that if they try something, there is at least a pretty good chance they get busted, or worse.

Do you honestly think that our presence in korea has not been a factor if not THE MAIN FACTOR that the koreas and china have not gone to war in sixty years?

How much intel have we gotten in the ME because we are there, that stopped more 9/11s or worse? I don't know and neither do you. I remember 9/11 and i know that overseas intel offered obama bin laden to wild bill clinton. But billy was busy so he respectfully declined.

Final question...what if we had intervened in europe in 1936? What if we had a massive and costly military presence on the continent between the soviets and the nazis?

Could the world have ignore and excused nazi atrocities?

I have made this analogy before. Suppose there is a little old lady in the neighborhood that doesn't like you. Gives you a hard time.

One day three of four jr hs kids start taunting and then attacking her. Lightly at first, then with sticks and fists.

You are bigger and stronger than the kids. Mighty, even. Do you help her? She doesn't like you. She would probably not help you. You have an important meeting to attend.

If you stop to help you might get hit. You might get hurt. You might get the windows on your car smashed, cost you a lot of money. If you beat them, you may have to go to court, maybe have to hire a lawyer to defend yourself. Cost you a lot of money.
