All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside.
They could rule that illegals that have snuck into the country illegally are NOT under the jurisdiction of the government and therefore their children would not be granted automatic citizenship.
I don’t know if the phrase “and subject to the jurisdiction thereof” has ever been legally ruled upon. What exactly does it mean? How does it effect citizenship?
