All comparisons are made only to the absolute implementation of the concept or notion at hand.
In this case, if you argued (right or wrong) that you want to spend $100MM over 10 years and could save $5B over that period, all that matters is the "additional theft" you endorse. Nothing you state after that matters.
Why bother discussing anything but philosophy with him?
