odd definition of "dissappoint."

The pundits almost always pick MU to finish bottom half of the East and then when MU goes 4-4, it's a "disappointment." I'm not complaining as I find pre-season predictions only mildly entertaining but it is odd that since coming into the conference MU has been tabbed with this damned-if-they-do-damned-if-they-don't label -- MU isn't picked to compete and then when MU doesn't win the conference it's underperforming.
