MU is in the SEC, whereas KSU is in the Big 12. MU is in Missouri, whereas KSU is in kansas. MU has Cuonzo Martin, whereas KSU has Bruce Weber.

2 of those 3 are only recent developments, so I assume that the most important factor historically is that MU is in Missouri whereas KSU is in kansas.
