but i used to do lots of news interviews and had good relationships with several local reporters including dating a couple :) I would give them breaking criminal investigation stories and interviews with the hope that it would generate leads. I usually would have surveillance videos to share which was always a bonus. but other times I wouldn't have video but felt it was still important to get the story out to generate leads. i was told on more than one occasion that they would NOT give out the suspect's race when giving the suspect description b/c of the fear it stigmatized black people. i stopped giving them stories as a minor form of protest. hurt my investigations. hurt their broadcast. but no blacks were stigmatized. so we had that going for us.

but yeah, newsrooms have no political bias lol
