that they would even put his name in an Alaska poll. He had no connections to Alaska that I recall - hell, he was a registered Democrat.

And you guys are correct, he was widely portrayed as a "victim" of zealous prosecutors, and of political expedience, and of the race baiting crowd. They're not exclusive.

George Zimmerman - "hero" was absolutely part of the narrative of the time. So much so that even he was quoted as saying there was nothing heroic about those events or that night.
