kid but I never met her parents in four years. During the season I took her home at least three times per week.
I dropped her off, watched her walk to the door and then high tailed it out of there as quickly as I could.
I had another player I took home regularity who lived behind Hiland Dairy on 39th and what is now Cleaver. She would not let me go into her neighborhood. She made me drop her off at the Dairy and she walked back in from there.
Those two girls were a couple of the best kids I have ever met, I would have trusted them with my car, my house or even my kid if she had been born and they came from two of the worst neighborhoods in the city.
That is why it is so important to judge everyone as an individual and not a stereotype. It is also why we owe it to those areas to do everything we can to police the areas and provide the residents with a quality educational system.
