I worked for many years as a field investigator in a federal agency. We would never convince our own agency attorneys to consider submitting such shallow, thinly sourced information in a request for a warrant. Same goes for the U.S. Attorney. They just don't do this. It is incredible that the FBI was able to convince a Judge to grant a warrant based on such crap. People who are not involved in law enforcement have no idea what information goes in to securing a federal warrant.
