Like most of us diamond fans we know pitching for baseball and softball is as importent for those sports as the QB is for football.
However, to win a game all by herself the pitcher probably would have trouble ever winning a game. Who would throw the ball back to her. Who would catch her throw when the batter bunted down the 3baseline. How would she stop a run from scoring if one player hit a solid ground ball that rolls all the way to the fence. Pitcher would have to go get it and beat her back to home plate.
Besides not all good pitchers are capable of 1 run a game which would be needed if she pitched a perfect game. :-)
