Rented a huge lake house in SC. There were 20 in our group.
We had put down a $1000 check for a deposit and when it was over the owner was trying to rip us off for half of the deposit.
We were haggling with him about it and he said they were going on a vacation to Alaska and they'd figure it out when they got back.
Well, him, his wife and their two kids and four friends of theirs were killed in a plane crash in Alaska....
