And, considering there was likely more to the story than what was ever revealed publicly, his playing at the end of the season was likely too soon.

Being cleared by a doctor doesn't mean your back has the strength to endure the pounding of running/jumping etc. let alone the lateral quickness needed in the sport. And, reoccurring back issues tend to occur once you have back operation(s).
