EE provided a firm but not new age huggy huggy environment.
Sterk and Sarah Reesman, not disclosing why - summarily fire him two weeks before the season - trapping the current roster into playing for the year. Brilliant - just brilliant.
But at the time, I'm sure the thought was that the new coach could 'fix' the softball program and re-recruit the team into happy lovey land. Instead, we have a steady exodus - how can players that HATED the evil EE be leaving?
Could it be that instead of an intolerable environment which no D1 softballer should be required to endure - one that absolutely demanded the firing of the head coach - we had one or two bad apple players with complicit whining helicopter parents in tow - and it was THESE CHARACTERS and not some unthinkable, intolerable, axis of evil that got EE fired?
In short - Sterk made a colossal mistake and now we the fans will have to watch this team get pummeled for the next ten years.
And all because someone, somewhere, couldn't handle being told they stink.
