A former Democrat said Monday that she voted for President Trump in 2016 because she knew he'd champion fiscal and social conservative issues.
Antonia Okafor, the co-founder of the concealed carry activist group EmPOWERed, said Monday that she believed President Trump could help millennials, as well as create jobs.
Okafor said Trump's positions on gun rights and the right to life were other motivating factors.
She also praised Trump for helping to fix the unemployment rate among African-Americans.
"I knew Trump could fix that. And you know what? [It's] 2018 and he has," she said.
Okafor disassociated herself from the left because of Democrats' "blatant disrespect" of life.
"I was sick and tired of it, and I wanted a president that was going to stand up for those things," she said.
She said that she believes many conservatives voted for the president because of the potential opportunity to move the Supreme Court.
"I think he should be bold like he's always been," Okafor said of the president's upcoming nomination.
"Conservatives will appreciate it and we're going to definitely be in support of him in 2020 if he continues this bold path that he's been on before."
The president can move the court firmly to the right with Supreme Court selection, with the four finalists believed to be four appeals court judges: Brett Kavanaugh, Raymond Kethledge, Amy Coney Barrett, and Thomas Hardiman.
