I have no problem with looking at other countries, but that does not mean that we need to follow what other countries do.

I think this country does a great job of making criminals out of mostly non-criminal behavior....and we will spend huge amounts of resources chasing that. when the sensible correct way may be to back off.

We saw this with probation
We are seeing this with the drug war
Sal posted a great article about what things were like before and after immigration laws of the mid 70s (rough dates as I don't know the exact dates).

It seems that the more we try to use government to control things, the more out of control they get.
