Son you're just young and dumb and should enlighten yourself

I am white, 63 year old man who grew up in the Bootheel of Missouri where agriculture is the #1 industry and cotton is the #1 crop. Growing up my entire family picked cotton…My mother, my 3 older sisters and even me as a child. It’s how our family financed our school clothes each year at JC Penney. In fact, the school system (Holcomb, MO) had what was called “Split Term” in which school started the first of August every year, then took a break the entire month of September to harvest the cotton crop and this meant picking cotton by hand because most farmers could not afford mechanical cotton pickers in the early 1960s.
Now…In the South when talking to someone who is irrational, crazy, nuts or just insane, you would say, “You’ve lost your cotton pickin’ mind,” but I’m sure those people who are always looking to be offended will find offense just like if one ever mentions watermelon, fried chicken or orange soda.
You city types and you cotton pickin' idiots, just don’t understand Southern farm people.
