People, for various reasons, want to come into this country....just like people, for various reasons want access to drugs

Government makes laws that make it illegal to come into this country, with the exception of some various rules, which are continuously tightening...much like government makes laws to make various drugs illegal

Government steps up enforcement of these laws. Citizens find their way around these laws. Government steps up enforcement more...citizens find more and more ways around it.

Before you know it, both the cost of government and the costs of finding their ways around it continue to go up, yet neither drug use nor illegal immigration is reduced, and many people are killed and jailed as a result.

At the end of the day, it is basically impossible to enforce these laws.

We are finally seeing the war on drugs fall apart slowly. We will see the same thing with the war on illegal immigration because more people value freedom vs a government out of control on the issue.
