If someone imposes tarriffs and other trade restrictions on us, what should we do?
Again with the collectivist notions. What should "we" do? Who? You and me? Well, I can't speak for yourself, but there's not much that I can personally do except to continue working and trading and hoping that these oppressive govts stop with the economic lunacy.
What should the US govt do? Hopefully not engage in the stupidity of tariffs/taxation and interference in trade and markets.
Bow at the waist, apologize for our nation's founding, our history and our traditions and willingly redistribute our wealth to other nations?
I would rather the US president take any of these measures instead of taking measures that could very well lead to the increase in consumer prices. Above all, I would suggest the president act like an adult and try to convince the other bureaucrats that tariffs do not make economic sense and lead by example in not imposing them.
America should be exceptional in this regard.
If someone hits you, do you bow at the waist and apologize, because if you fight back, things may escalate?
Unless I think a mutual fight is worth my while. I consider de-escalating the situation and walking away. Especially if the first hit was unwarranted. If I wasn't looking for a fight, then I'm not going to escalate one that comes to me.
Is there EVER a reason to man up about anything?
Yes, but disregarding centuries of sound economic reasoning is not one of those times.
