commenters after the article, I'll wait until more is known before judging.
But it sounds a lot like so many other police shootings. The press reports an innocent young man killed by vicious police. His mother protests his goodness and his innocence, and the police say nothing.
Yet.
In the comment section, everyone seems to believe that the cop did the right thing. I am inclined in that direction as well, but until more is known, not enough is known.
