On sitcoms. Just as there was on Rosanne. The fact that in this instance the show was named after her doesnt change the fact that they stood a good chance of carrying on without her. That is why they are now considering it in a reboot. However, I think that will fail. I also think the old show would have faded fairly quickly in seasons two andnthree

The process is the same regardless of the name of the show. You would look at the show and try to determine if one character is so central to the entire series that they can't be replaced
