1. KC is a much bigger city than it was when the Kings left.
2. The arena is infinitely better with the ability to generate money at a new level than in the past.
3. The NBA itself is more popular than it was during the majority of the Kings era.
4. Ticket sales were about the only way to make money in the NBA back then, while they are a much smaller piece of the pie today.
5. A KC team would flourish early on if they were remotely decent. But, it might struggle long term. Despite the changes to help them succeed, failure is still a possibility.
6. The Kings were legitimately considering moving back to KC in the late 90's but the city could not get an arena together.
