have the top of the hour "National news" repeat them on a daily basis, I tend to believe that the obsession is quite widespread.

The obsession with the office is not healthy for the country. I think our 24-7 news and now social media news has turned this whole thing into TMZ (and it's not just trump, the celebrity-worship during the last administration was just as bad, just in a different vein)
