as I've mentioned before, I've investigated probably 100 cases or more working hand in hand with the FBI. they are absolutely nothing special. roughly equivalent to a big city cop with about 3 years on. meaning they don't know much (no offense Sal lol) the only thing they have going for them is resources and the weight of the fed gov't behind them. when I'd do interrogations with them they would sit there and let me do the entire thing b/c most of them have very little real-world interrogation experience. there were some that were good, but those were mostly guys who had been cops before joining the FBI. generally, you'd get individuals with law degrees who had never been attorneys and who had no law enforcement experience either. double whammy of crap.
