...and one of the main points was to show just how many P5 players Texas produces every year as opposed to other states. But looking in detail puts things in even clearer perspective (i.e., not just the volume, but the quality of volume).
I just looked up Missouri's 2019 class on 247. Our state's #1 player is a 5* and then #2-6 are 4* players. Really not a Top 10 to be embarrassed about...that's no worse than on par with Illinois, Iowa, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kentucky, just to name a few neighboring states, and much better than many others in the region. However, the rankings end at #33, who is a 1* kid. That's pretty thin.
Texas, on the other hand, currently has 5* kids at #1-3 (with a few just a hair away from that fifth star), and more important, their 4* players don't stop being listed until #43 in the state...10 spots past Missouri's last-ranked 1* kid. That's just unreal. And then the 3* Texas kids are listed from #44-171, with #171 numerically rated the same as Missouri's last 3* at #26.
I know, I know...STARS. But I just can't join the chorus enough to say that rebuilding our Texas pipeline is going to be critical to the Missouri program and Odom's success or failure. So far, he's sure seems committed to it.
