Did You Know? For the second consecutive season, Mizzou Women’s Basketball head coach Robin Pingeton has been named a Naismith Women’s College Coach of the Year National Semifinalist. Pingeton is of 10 coaches across the nation in the running for the 2018 Werner Ladder Naismith Women’s College Coach of the Year honor. From this list, the Naismith Awards master voting academy will select the four finalists, to be announced March 14. Fans will be able to support their favorite coach by visiting naismithtrophy.com/vote from March 19-30 to cast their ballot. The fan vote accounts for five percent of the overall final vote. Pingeton has steered Mizzou to its third consecutive 22-win campaign for the first time since 1982-85. The Tigers are ranked No. 11 in the AP Top 25 poll, their highest ranking since 1984, and No. 9 in the Coaches' Poll, their highest ranking in that poll in program history. Mizzou is 22-5 with only one of its five losses coming against a team that is currently unranked.
Did You Know II? Mizzou Track & Field redshirt freshman Ja’Mari Ward (Cahokia, Ill.) was named the Southeastern Conference Field Athlete of the Week. Ward, who was named the 2017 SEC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year, set the indoor long jump school record at the Missouri Collegiate Challenge (Feb. 16).Ward finished first in the long jump at last week’s home meet, as the Tiger freshman recorded a jump of 7.97m (26-1.75) to set the school record, which surpassed Yussuf Alli’s 1984 mark of 7.91m (25-11.75). The mark puts Ward in position to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, as it currently matches the fourth-best jump in the NCAA this season (top-16 marks qualify). Ward’s mark is also tied for the best mark in the SEC this season, as Florida’s Grant Holloway recorded an identical mark at the Razorback Invitational on Jan. 26.

Mizzou has eight teams ranked among the nation’s Top 25 this week in Wrestling (No. 3), Women’s Basketball (No. 11), Women’s Indoor Track & Field (No. 12), Men’s Swimming and Diving (No. 13), Women’s Swimming & Diving (No. 20), Women’s Gymnastics (No. 20), Volleyball (No. 20) and Men’s Golf (No. 21). Mizzou Men’s Golf took seventh place at the SunTrust Gator Invitational (Feb. 17-18), but the story for the Tigers was again centered around senior Hayden Buckley (Belden, Miss.) and his fantastic final campaign for the Black & Gold. Buckley won his third individual title of the season (70-68-64 -- 202) at the Mark Bostick Golf Course, finishing 8-under-par. Though several competitors would come close, Buckley won the event by a stroke, finishing with a 202 on the par-70 course. The Gator Invitational marked the third consecutive tournament score under 205 for Buckley, and the second year in a row Mizzou has placed a golfer in the Top-2 of the event.
Did You Know V? No. 3 Mizzou Wrestling closed the regular season portion of its schedule with a 23-9 road win over No. 13 Northern Iowa at the West Gymnasium in Cedar Falls, Iowa. With the win, Mizzou finished the regular season with a perfect 19-0 mark in duals, the second time in program history the Tigers ended the season with a perfect record. Mizzou also posted a perfect season in 2014-15, when the Tigers went 24-0 en route to a NWCA National Duals title … Mizzou will take a 20-match dual win streak into the 2018-19 campaign.
Men’s Basketball (18-10/8-7 in SEC): Mizzou Men's Basketball looks to get back to its winning ways as it hits the road for a pair of nationally-televised games at Kentucky (Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. on ESPN) and Vanderbilt (Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. on ESPN/2) … The Tigers had their five-game win streak snapped at LSU, 64-63, then returned home to drop a heart-breaking 90-87 overtime decision to Ole Miss, Feb. 20 … Against Ole Miss, Mizzou had six players – freshman forward Jontay Porter (17), graduate senior guard Kassius Robertson (16), senior forward Jordan Barnett (15), junior guard Jordan Geist (15), freshman forward Jeremiah Tilmon (12) and junior forward Kevin Puryear (11) – score in double-figures for the first time since Jan. 11, 2012, when six Tigers scored in double figures against Iowa State .. The Tigers made 13 three-pointers against Ole Miss, the 17th time this season Mizzou has made at least 10 triples … Mizzou has already set a program record for most games with 10+ three-pointers, surpassing the 1999-00 team which accomplished the feat 15 times … Robertson has made 86 three-pointers on the season, good for eighth on the Tigers’ single-season list … Mizzou is 6-5 on the season in games decided by five or fewer points … The Tigers’ 18 wins in 2017-18 match their combined total of victories in the last two seasons (8 in 2016-17, 10 in 2015-16).
Women’s Basketball (22-5/10-4 in SEC, 11th in Associated Press/9h in USA Today Coaches poll): Before a program-record crowd of 11,092 at Mizzou Arena, the Mizzou Women’s Basketball team knocked off 11th-ranked Tennessee, 77-73, to register its fifth-straight win … Mizzou hosts Vanderbilt on Feb. 22 at 7 p.m., then closes the regular season with a Feb. 25 game at No. 17/18 Texas A&M that will be televised on the SEC Network at 3 p.m. …Junior Sophie Cunningham (Columbia, Mo.) scored 32 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out five assists against Tennessee, marking the third time this season she’s registered 25+ points, 5+ rebounds and 5+ rebounds in the same game … Senior Jordan Frericks (Quincy, Ill.) had 16 points, including a pair of free throws in the final minute to seal the win … Frericks needs five rebounds to become the third player in school history to grab 1,000 career rebounds … Mizzou has a pair of wins over Top 11 opponents in the same season for the first time since the 1993-94 season when it beat No. 6 Kansas and No. 3 Colorado … Mizzou is 7-1 in its last eight home games against Top 25 opponents … Thursday’s game against Vanderbilt will be the last regular-season home game for Frericks, Bri Porter (Columbia, Mo.) and Kayla Michael (Cincinnati, Ohio) … Mizzou has won 22 games for the third-straight season; it hasn’t won more than 22 since a 25-win season in 1983-84.

Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving (Men No. 13 in CSCAA Coaches Poll, Women No. 20 in CSCAA Coaches Poll): Junior Jacob Wielinski (Mounds View, Minn.) earned runner-up honors and crushed his own school record in the men’s 1650 free to highlight action for the Mizzou men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams at the 2018 Southeastern Conference Championships in College Station, Texas … Overall, the Tiger men placed fifth with 794.5 points, while the women were sixth with 739 points … The Florida men (1,227 points) and the Texas A&M women (1,319 points) won their respective team championships … Over the five days, the Tigers set six school records and recorded four individual top three finishes, nine individual top five finishes and 17 individual top eight finishes … Two Tigers, Wielinski and senior Hannah Stevens (Lexington, Ky.), earned runner-up honors in their respective events … Wielinski, who won the 1650 free at the 2017 Western Athletic Conference Championships while at North Dakota, dropped almost 15 full seconds off his previous school record to take second in the event … The junior posted a 14:44.24, crushing his old mark of 14:59.10 set in November … Wielinski also broke his own 1,000 free program record as he went 8:56.10 over the first 1,000 yards of the race … Stevens led throughout much of her race but was out-touched at the finish to record her second-consecutive second-place finish in the event … The senior went a season-best 50.91 in the final, just behind Kentucky’s Asia Seidt … Mizzou will host the Mizzou NCAA Qualifier, an NCAA last chance meet, Feb. 24-25 at the Mizzou Aquatics Center.
Women’s Gymnastics (3-5/1-4 in SEC, No. 20 in College Gymnastics Association Poll): No. 20 Mizzou Gymnastics scored a 196.025 to finish second in a stout field at the Mardi Gras Invitational at the St. Charles Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo. … No. 4 LSU won the meet with a 198.025, while No. 21 George Washington took third with a 195.650 and No. 8 Arkansas scored a 195.575 to finish fourth … Missouri notched season-high event scores on both beam and vault, with totals of 49.375 and 49.250 … The beam score also stands as the second-highest in program history, only trailing the 49.500 set against Kentucky last season … The Tigers now hit the road for a pair of away meets next weekend … First Mizzou faces No. 9 Kentucky on Feb. 23 in Lexington, Ky., followed by a Feb. 25 meet at Illinois on Feb. 25 at 4 p.m.
Baseball (2-1): Mizzou Baseball opened the season by taking two of three games at Florida International, winning game 1 by a 3-1 score and taking game 2 22-1, before falling 11-5 in the series finale … Mizzou has now won three-consecutive weekend series, dating back to 2017 when it won weekend sets over South Carolina and Tennessee to close the year … In the season-opener, sophomore LHP and Preseason All-American T.J. Sikkema (DeWitt, Iowa) was outstanding in relief, throwing 5.0 innings while striking out a seven, his most in a relief outing since March 4 of last season vs. UIC … He allowed just one earned run on four hits in the win … Junior OF Zach Hanna (Shawnee Mission, Kan.) hit his first Division I homer in the top of the sixth inning, giving Mizzou a 1-0 lead while turning in a two-hit night. …Florida International tied the game in the bottom of the sixth but Mizzou took advantage of a leadoff error in the ninth and the two wild pitches to escape with the season-opening win … Reliever Nile Ball (Decatur, Ga.) got the final out of the game after a 4-6-3 double play, induced by Sikkema, in the ninth to earn his first Division I save In its game 2 win, Mizzou scored its most runs since a 27-run outing against Eastern Michigan, also in the second game of the season, last year … The 21 hits were also its most since the EMU game as well (22) … Mizzou will stay in the Sunshine State for another week, first facing Miami in a true road game Wednesday (Feb. 21) at 5 p.m. (Central), before playing a four-game series against Northeastern, Feb. 23-25, in Fort Myers, Fla.
Women’s Tennis (10-1): Fresh off another home weekend sweep, the Mizzou Tennis team (10-1) continues its 10-match homestand with a trio of matches at the Mizzou Tennis Complex … The Tigers welcome Wichita State on Friday at 3 p.m., then face Kansas State and UMKC in a Sunday doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. … Mizzou beat Minnesota, 4-3, then handed Memphis a 4-2 loss on Sunday to register its fifth-straight win and close out another successful weekend … Mizzou has won the all-important doubles point in all 11 matches on the young season.
Softball (6-5): Mizzou Softball concludes its 2018 non-conference tournament schedule this weekend at the Mary Nutter Classic in Cathedral City, California … The Tigers will compete in six games over four days, including a pair of Top 25 matchups against Arizona and UCLA … The Tigers are coming off a solid 4-2 performance at last weekend’s Michele Smith Invitational in Clearwater, Florida. Mizzou swept a pair of matchups against host USF, who was receiving votes in each major national poll last week. … Collectively, the Tigers upped their game in both hitting and pitching in Clearwater … At the plate, Mizzou hit .333 with 34 runs, 11 doubles, one triple, nine home runs and 28 RBI … In the circle, the Tigers’ pitching staff went 4-2 with a 3.00 ERA over 42.0 IP … Rylee Pierce (.600), Amanda Sanchez (.579) and Braxton Burnside (.533) all hit the cover off the balls at the Michele Smith Invitational … Pierce launched a team-best three home runs, while Sanchez led the Tigers with five extra-base hits (three doubles and two homers).

Men’s Golf (No. 21 in GCAA Coaches Poll): Mizzou Men’s Golf opened its spring season with a seventh-place finish at the SunTrust Gator Invitational, but the story for the Tigers was again centered around senior Hayden Buckley (Belden, Miss.) and his fantastic final campaign for the Black & Gold … Buckley won his third individual title of the season (70-68-64 -- 202) at the Mark Bostick Golf Course, finishing 8-under-par … For head coach Mark Leroux’s squad, the seventh-place showing comes amongst an impressive field of competition, including fellow Southeastern Conference opponents No. 4 Vanderbilt, who took first, and No. 7 Florida, who finished second. South Florida, North Florida, UCF and Liberty also placed ahead of the Tigers … Buckley won the event by a stroke, finishing with a 202 on the par-70 course … The Gator Invitational marked the third consecutive tournament score under 205 for Buckley, and the second year in a row Mizzou has placed a golfer in the Top-2 of the event … The Tigers are back in action from March 4-6 at the Auburn Tiger Invitational in Opelika, Alabama.
Football (7-6/4-4 in SEC): Season Complete … Earned 2017 Academy Sports + Outdoors Texas Bowl bid, program’s first bowl trip since 2014 … Mizzou’s seven wins were its most since an 11-win 2014 campaign … Four Tigers earned All-SEC honors from both the Associated Press and the league’s coaches … QB Drew Lock was named All-SEC First-Team quarterback while DE Marcell Frazier, WR J'Mon Moore and TE Albert Okwuegbunam each earned All-SEC Second-Team honors … Four Mizzou standouts earned coaches Freshman All-SEC honors -- C Trystan Castillo, Okwuegbunam, AP/KR Larry Rountree III and DE Tre Williams.
Volleyball (22-12/13-5 in SEC; No. 20 in AVCA Poll): Season Complete … Following the program's second-straight Sweet 16 appearance, Mizzou Volleyball placed No. 20 in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I Coaches Top 25 poll … It marked the first time in program history Mizzou was ranked among the nation’s final Top 20 in back-to-back seasons … Alyssa Munlyn’s earned her third-straight AVCA All-American honor, and she was joined on the AVCA Southeast Regional team by teammate Kira Larson.
Cross Country: Season Complete … Mizzou senior Karissa Schweizer earned her sixth career All-America honor at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Louisville, Ky. … The All-America honor is the 13th top-40 finish for the Mizzou women at the NCAA meet, and the 21st in program history overall, men or women … Schweizer crossed the finish line in 19:47.47 to place 11th.
Soccer (8-12-1/3-7-0): Season Complete … Reached SEC Tournament quarterfinals … Senior Kaitlyn Clark and sophomore Sarah Luebbert earned All-SEC second-team honors, the second-consecutive season both made the second unit.
