At an old favorite and once-regular venue — the modestly named Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg — former University of Missouri and current Pittsburg State men’s basketball head coach Kim Anderson’s rock ‘n’ roll reunion tour continued Wednesday in his first return to Central Missouri since his hiring at PSU.
Dakota Jones, another Warrensburg crowd-pleaser, nearly extended the scheduled setlist with a game-tying 3-pointer with 10 seconds to play, but Spencer Reaves helped the Mules escape without an encore — getting the bounce on a buzzer-beating two in an 87-85 victory.
After a reunion in the ‘Burg, perhaps the emotional height of Anderson’s MIAA road circuit, the question remains as to how long the tour can last.
“I think it’s over,” Anderson said. “I just wanted to coach basketball. Pitt State gave me this opportunity, and I’m just happy to be back coaching at a level I enjoy.”
