From my experience with this board, and boards like it, and just humans in general - many of you will have a hard time getting this because it requires an understanding and balance of multiple things that are unlikely to be truly understood by each of you.
Barry got 1/10 of the elite MO10. Fact. And that's not good.
A lot of people take that fact and equate it to the obvious - that Barry couldn't lock these guys down because of his own faults and the faults of the program he's run for the past 2 years.
What most people don't do is think further - which is known as 'critically thinking'.
No matter what you think about the Pinkel Hunger Strike, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if you are over it, if you agreed with Pinkel, if you disagreed. Your feelings on the matter do not matter.
What does matter is it happened.
And by happening it altered the reality of Mizzou football. It unnaturally changed the environment, the cells, the DNA that is Mizzou football. It changed it.
Instead of a program run by its career win leader and eventually handed off to a worthy successor (which was going to be BO at some point), it was in many ways demolished overnight.
Missing out on 9 out of 10 of these kids has WAY more to do with the altered reality that was caused by that hunger strike than anything Barry has done or hasn't done.
Barry can recruit. He does appeal to these kids.
We're currently and will remain working through some unfortunate ****.
It will either pan out or it won't.
If you don't agree with this, or don't get it, or can't critically analyze this from multiple angles and want to simply blame Barry or Mizzou for hiring Barry - you're dumb and I have no sympathy for your stupidity.
