The underlying fundamentals for our economy suck. That does not mean, of course, that there's going to be a major economic crash this year.
It's a lot like a smoker making fun of people telling him that smoking is going to kill him. He can point out that people have been telling him that for years and he's still going strong and feeling fine.
But what he's doing is still stupid.
