I was a fan of the original league when it came out. It was no holds bar and didn't care about the PC stuff in the NFL. And hey, it was football in the summer too. I thought people gave up too early on it.
Now he's trying to bring it back but take away everything that made it great. Granted this was back when the dub was in the Attitude era and before it shifted back to the family friendly wrestling that we knew in the 80's. He said it will be a clean league with no players having a criminal background. Good luck with that. No intensity or theatrical stuff either. Isn't that kind of against the grain of what has made his other stuff work? Quicker games and better stuff on TV might work.
I don't know how hes going to get better quality of play. He also can't do the physical stuff they did in the first XFL. No no fair catch rules and that scrum at the beginning of the game (which was awesome) would never fly with all the worries they have about concussions and stuff these days.
McMahon isn't a billionaire for nothing and has that killer instinct. I think he can make it work but I'm skeptical if hes trying to do a league that isn't himself. As long as we see fresh talent coming into WWE the success of this league is a bonus.
But hey, maybe St. Louis could get a team, so you guys have that going for ya which is nice.
