by the stats.

We shoot really accurately, we defend well, and we rebound well:

22 in the nation in FG %
33 in the nation in FT %
24 in the nation in FG % defense
16 in the nation in rebound margin

What do we not do well? SOS. Turnovers. We do it too often still, and are awful at turning the other team over. Yes, we are a tad better than last year in turnovers per game, averaging 14.25 a game. But we only get 11.63 turnovers a game. That results in this:

66 in the nation in turnovers per game (better than last year)
341 in the nation in turnovers forced per game
286 in the nation in turnover margin

I know it's hard to do everything well. But it's striking how good this team is at so many important facets of the game and how bad they are at the TO game.

There are several SEC teams who really excel at this. Auburn is #3 in the nation in turnover margin, at +10 per game; Miss State is #4 in the nation with a margin of +9 per game; and LSU is #22 in the nation. Auburn forces 25 turnovers a game, 3rd in the nation. Miss State forces 21 a game, and LSU forces 20.

Which brings up a good point made by another poster recently, after the LSU loss. Why didn't we throw a press on them to counter the defensive pressure they were bringing on us? Usually teams that press a lot hate being pressed back. Just a thought.
