They see more wear & tear being unloaded and reloaded at shift change.
After working the action of the pump a few times and listening for anything unusual, the last thing you do is drop the hammer and listen for a solid "click".
So once I was doing that, pulled the trigger, and saw the firing pin shoot out the barrel bouncing around on the end of the spring like a Jack-in-the-Box.
Oops.
