is rigged in favor of those high school athletes who participate in the Rivals camp series. If you don't, you usually get dinged. Just like high school basketball players who don't participate in the elite summer basketball leagues.
Also, I think Rivals spreads the stars around the country to make sure they don't lose subscribers in states that aren't traditional recruiting hotbeds (like Missouri). To be honest, there are a lot of 3-star players from TX, LA, GA, FL, etc. that are better than many 4-star players from Missouri. Why? Because they're better coached and play against better competition on a weekly basis. Not to mention the fact that many states have spring high school football and/or 7-on-7 tournaments.
