or an NIT team. There is still plenty of room for growth this year. There is still plenty of opportunity to succeed or fail. Part of this is that major role players are experiencing this for the first time. Deer in headlights.
Jontay has a big body, and a lot of skill for a high school senior, but he has a long way to go to make his body physically strong enough to take the beating on the inside, from older, better conditioned upperclassmen on other teams. They also have the advanced mental skills that experience brings at this level. He needs to be more assertive, and it will come in time. Bagging on the young man and questioning his desire to be here is pretty low class. The learning curve is steep for those who play 4 years in high school. He played 3. He'll be fine once he gets some experience. He's playing limited minutes in a backup role.
Geist needs to learn to recognize the trap coming and dish the ball sooner. He should be doing escape drills every day. His teammates need to be more aware of it as well and make themselves more available to him.
Tilmon is doing a much better job of staying out of foul trouble.
There is still of lot of learning about your teammates to be done, with just 13 games that count on the record played.
