Notes: The Washington Standard is a news opinion website with an extreme right wing bias in reporting. All stories are slanted positively toward the right and negatively to the left. The Washington Standard also promotes conspiracy theories such as the Clinton’s murdering people for political gain. Interestingly, The Washington Standard uses a deceptive technique to entice clicking for financial gain. Within articles such as the one above they place hyperlinks that one would expect to be the source of information they are referencing, but instead it takes you to another page on their website that asks you to follow their Facebook and Twitter accounts. There is no other information. Each time a person clicks those links they are collecting advertising revenue and offering zero supporting information. Here is an example: “In the previous campaign season, we saw a trail of bodies linked to Hillary Clinton, including murdered DNC staffer Seth Rich, who is believed to be the leaker of tens of thousands of Democratic National Committee emails.” When you click on those links there isn’t any information at all. Overall, this is not a credible news website due to poor sourcing and extreme bias. (D. Van Zandt 7/16/2017)
