1) The US recognizes Israel as a country.
2) The capital of Israel is Jerusalem (since 1949)
3) The US passed a law in 1995 recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
4) The global community knows the US supports Israel.
5) The global community snickers at the US placing the US Embassy in Tel Aviv and sees that as way to de-legitimatize US support.
6) Moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem eliminates the incongruity of US positions and can only removes any doubts about the US position on Israel.
