I understand what you meant, but it was a bad way to say it. I am not responsible for foreign policy (or any policy) just as I am not responsible for slavery in the 1800s or any of the fallout after its abolition.
Where you and I disagree is that NK is a destabilizing power. Just as Iran is. And while Iran has been doing less to provoke the region's (and the world's) ire, that mantle has been picked up by North Korea.
If NK used the same playbook as Iran has recently, the pressure on them would fall, as it has for Iran. But here we are, two buffoons posturing with each other to see which one will back down from nuclear war first. No one should be applauding that move.
