Just an update since it impacts the SEC now and some may be interested. I worked in Athletic Dept at FSU for 7 years and personally know a few people on the beat.
For reasons I do not understand, the A&M offer is the most enticed he has been by an offer since at FSU, more so than LSU. The people that I've talked with are split on whether or not they expect him to return. I think A&M would take a step forward by picking up Jimbo, which I'm beginning to feel is inevitable. With the current coaching market, I expect that if A&M hasn't expanded their search in the next 48-72 hours, you can look forward to an official announcement Sunday morning, following FSU's final home game against ULM Saturday afternoon.
FSU has taken initial outreach to prospective coaches in case Jimbo does leave. Top candidates are Taggart at Oregon and Strong at USF.
