be a good thing long term for MU basketball.

This isn't a one year rebuild, its a multi-year process. Being able to infuse the roster with some young talent, establish some expectations and start building a culture, and get some experience of having success while having MPJ join the team next year at full strength while everyone else has developed and matured would pretty much be the ideal scenario unless you are simply looking at the short term.
