Lock-despite not great passing numbers, one of his best games overall. He pulled the ball on a couple zone reads early, which made them have a little respect for it and slowed down the backside. He also ran the speed option very well, which ended up being a great play for us last night. Vandy's plan in normal D/D situations was to play C1 (man with a FS, at about 20 yards) and make Lock and the receivers makes throws and catches.
WR/TE- of course Hall's drops hurt, but overall they were solid and Albert O. was great. Besides the obvious (Moore's big catch and run, Floyd's TD, Albert's catches) they did a really good job securing blocks in the secondary. If you watch Rountree's TD on the speed option, Nate Brown has the corner engaged 4 yards into the EZ.
OL- played really well, the run was efficient despite being in a minus situation all night (the defense generally had one more hat in the box than we did). Lock was only pressured a couple of times.
RB- did a good job getting vertical when yards were there. Had a chance to break a couple of really big ones but couldn't get by the FS. Pretty solid in pass pro all night.
DL- disruptive all night, they were fun to watch. On that 4th down and goal in the 4th quarter where they threw incomplete (and pretty much ended all hope) Frazier explodes off of the edge, gets the tackle up field, then takes B-gap and pressures the QB into a hurried and bad throw. Becker is special. It's not DL ZOU yet, but hopefully we're getting there.
LB- their best game as a unit, in my opinion. Garrett is really starting to understand his fits. Hall was good, but he generally has been. Lee's pick was a game changer.
DBs- did not maintain inside leverage in man coverage a few times, which was disappointing and led to a couple of big plays. If it wasn't for a few Vandy drops, the game probably looks a little different. Sparks pick was awesome.
ST's- tough night to kick and punt, but Fatony was his usual self and McCann is looking like the guy we recruited. Floyd's punt return TD was incredible.
