If a Person A believes he acted within self defense against a certain group of individuals, would you expect Person A to immediately and voluntarily surrender himself to that same group of individuals?

The point being, I wouldn't read too much into his disappearance based on truly how little we know about this.

Be patient, and allow an investigation occur. Let's not Roy Moore this situation.
