More money in a related field where law enforcement

First full year, I beat my previous yearly income by $12,000, the following year I made double what I'd made before I left.
No shiftwork. No working weekends. And my favorite, being scheduled in as acting shift supervisor because the supervisor would vapor lock on busy weekends. So I was filling the role, but not getting the rank advancement or pay.
The funniest thing was I was really good on legal procedural issues. Boned up on traffic law changes every legislative session, taught DUI detection and apprehension classes (which led to every officer having at least one DUI arrest within a year--in a county park system with no alcohol), and served as a Field Training Officer to new trainees.
So when a shift supervisor called me on the radio to seek advice on how to handle a procedural matter AND EVERY OTHER PERSON ON THE SHIFT REALIZED HE DIDN'T KNOW HIS SH*T, you can see how that would sit with me.
