A draft builds resistance to the military. Resistance is a good thing. When middle class white boys are being drafted and sent to war - the people in the middle pay attention.

Right now we have been involved in a series of wars for 17 years and it doesn't seem to register with most folks that that is the case - not like it did with Vietnam or larger wars. SEVENTEEN YEARS !!

But when it is mostly the poor and economically desperate who sign up then who really cares? A draft would be a very good thing in that regard.

I think mandatory two year service should be required. You can serve in the military or civilian corps, but you will serve. I would support that.
