Good question. Gary's personal life wasn't in order at the time. You hear comments that Pat Ivey was "the coach" which I translate to be the weight guy gets along with the players and talks to them. I would think at worst we'd be 6-6 and complaining about GP. I'm not sure how recruiting in the SEC and Missouri is working out for us. Maybe he would have gone back to Texas. The biggest problem he'd have is that he vested himself in social activists and would be walking that thin piece of ice as well. He's retired. I'd love to see him recruiting for us though. An Ambassador of the program, representing what he built, and passing it on to the next coach (not BO, too late for BO).
