GP came to Mizzou after the late Larry Smith was fired and had, due to his illness (that we all know now) had let all of his work slip into disrepair. LS's recruiting was always a little tenuous but it was his illnesss that did him in at Mizzou. Anyway, GP comes in to a program that had some hope and expectation but had slipped back into complacency by its fan base and players. In '01, GP had made significant strides in just making the team competitive again and sans the blow out to MSU (may not have been had it not been postponed) the team did not quit. '02 saw a team that was extrememly competitive and was 7 points away from bowling (and if anyone who was at the A&M game in College Station, that was one of the most exciting games and underated victories in Mizzou history). '03 was an 8 win season. So in 3 seasons the Tigers were relevant. There was the '04 season but then it was Katy Bar The Door from there on out. Complete TA.
This is what a TA looks like at Mizzou. Improvement and hope. Not declining performance, lackluster effort and a feckless program.
