A top 50 basketball program can get to the NCAA Tournament frequently, but a "top" 50 football program is among the worst — in the bottom half, at least.

Personally, I'd take the scenario in which the basketball program would be top 10 over top 50, because I don't care about football very much, but I think you might get different answers from some Tigerboarders if you gave them the option of top 10 in bball and top 30 in football versus top 5 in football and top 50 in bball.
