And then also Mizzou we'll have to deal with these types of ESPN reports (or at least put up with them).
ESPN radio:
'The University of Missouri today announced the return of True Son Jim Leavitt, who AD Jim Sterk announced has been hired as the Tigers new Head Coach.'
'They're gluttons for punishment over there at Mizzou aren't they?'
'Well, Leavitt had that incident at USF where he allegedly strikes a player...'
'And Mizzou is really just coming off those player protests over racism on campus, then they go and hire a coach fired for striking a player.'
'Well, that was never proven and USF did lose a large settlement related to that case. And Leavitt has since had successful stints at Colorado and Oregon as a defensive coordinator.'
'Still, it seems like a ticking time bomb. Why risk more protests? Why stir the pot? They've already seen Barry Odom, who is a great defensive coordinator by the way, and by all accounts a truly good guy, struggle mightily to get these players on the same page - he's fired after three years, and now this hiring.'
'Well, it's certainly a different approach. It's almost like they've gone from one end of the spectrum to the other - and we'll keep our eye on Mizzou, we may start to see some good football from them but we also might start to see some other things too - it's a mystifying hire.'
'I think they just want to win. You know they got used to being a quality program there under Gary Pinkel who retired in 2015 amidst some very difficult and in many ways unprecedented circumstances. That whole thing was quite a blow to the program and now they're just trying to find a way back.'
