might also help.
Lots of you have argued that Odom is calling the D and therefore it's his fault. Some truth to that. But, as others have pointed out, he almost certainly is not truly running the defense.
He is not leading the scouting for the D. He might be helping, but probably very little if at all.
He is not running the D meetings. Maybe he's sitting in a few, but Cross was still the messenger.
He is not teaching technique.
He is almost certainly doing almost nothing more than calling the defensive sets on Saturday.

Maybe......maybe....there was a case of insubordination going on with Cross. Odds are pretty reasonable that Cross was doing everything except calling the sets and if he was not doing the rest in cooperation with what Barry was trying to do, it would help explain what we've seen.

Sure, this is a positive spin, and I'm not saying it IS the situation at hand. I'm just saying....it's possible.

At this point, Barry has to trust Josh enough to completely take over the offense and Barry have zero input on O except gameday decisions like go for it or kick. Barry has to take the role of the defensive coordinator on a day by day, minute by minute basis, in addition to his facetime responsibilities as the HC.

I posted last night about seeing our defenders engaging blockers at completely ludicrous times and in completely ludicrous ways. That is something that is taught, or failed to correct, at the position coach and DC level. So, that would be something that Cross was responsible for.

We shall see.
