It is promoted as a way of keeping the working class divided. It is used to divert the public's attention away from economic substance.
The stereotypical white racist is just a pawn in a rich man's game.
The history of racism is interesting. It was clearly developed and promoted as an economic/political tool. Over the centuries it has gained momentum from repetition and the adverse consequences of application in prior years.
Unfortunately, the past failure to address its true history have made the problem worse. Creating "space" for its continuation. When you stick to a false history/national myth, bad things happen.
